International Vaccine Victim Week is held every year as a tribute to and commemoration of all vaccine victims worldwide.

The event will take place this year during the week before the 11th of October 2010, International Vaccine Victim Day, and will run from Monday the 4th until Saturday the 9th.

A display on vaccine victims, including a traveling exhibit of artworks by vaccine victims will be open to visitors throughout the week. In addition to this there will be lectures, shows, concerts, theater, films and at the end of the week, the awarding of the first EFVV Tremante Prize for outstanding and groundbreaking research on the adverse effects of vaccines.

LOCATION

Gerona is a beautiful city of great artistic and historical heritage, located in northwestern Catalonia. It is at the crossroads of four rivers: the Ter, the Güell, the Galligans and the Onyar.

The city's most important buildings and items of artistic and historical value are located in the old quarter, the heart of the original Roman city Gerunda. This area is surrounded by vast expanses of wall , with a beautiful view over the city.

It is located at 75 m. above sea level and the climate is temperate. The average temperature during the month of October is usually around 16º C.

TRANSPORT

The city of Gerona offers inner-city, suburban, regional and national bus connections. There are therefore regular lines connecting Gerona to Sant Feliu de Guixols, Santa Coloma de Farners, Olot and Lloret de Mar and all the small and medium sized towns along the coast. The central bus station is right next to the railway station.

Gerona-Costa Brava Airport is located in Vilobí d'Onyar, 12 km from the city centre. It is the south European hub for one of the largest low-cost airlines, the Irish Ryanair.

Gerona has a full-service railway station with connections to the Spanish national railway grid.

· Regional trains to Portbou, Figueres, Barcelona and other towns in the province and also the neighboring province of Barcelona in Granollers.

· Long-distance trains to all major cities along the Mediterranean corridor and to Madrid.

· International trains to Perpignan, Narbonne, Montpellier, Limoges, Orleans, Paris, Geneva, Zurich, Turin and Milan.

Gerona is also easily accessible by road.
